The Capitol Skyline Hotel is the perfect destination of hotels in Washington DC for the business or leisure traveler. Our newly designed and upscale decor provides family friendly Washington DC lodging and is welcoming to business travelers. Relax in the Capitol Skyline Hotel's spacious and comfortable guest rooms decorated in a contemporary and refreshing style. Travelers will appreciate complimentary wireless internet, 27 inch televisions, digital in-room safes, large working areas, luxurious mattresses and bathrooms featuring quarry granite vanities for their Washington DC lodging. THE LOOK We've taken a fabulously eclectic seven-story hotel built by master architect Morris Lapidus (the original designer of Miami Beach's famed Fontainebleau resort) and dressed up the public rooms with collectible furniture by some of the most interesting modern and contemporary designers: Frank Gehry, Eero Saarinen, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, Greg Lynn, Ross Lovegrove, Denis Santachiara and Philippe Starck, just to name a few. It feels almost like a mini-museum of design, except you get to touch, feel, hang out around and sit on everything! THE LOCATION The Capitol Skyline is just a couple of blocks from the new Nationals Park baseball stadium, and about 5 minutes from Capitol Hill, the National Mall, the Smithsonian Museums, the Supreme Court, and the Navy Yard. Half our rooms have capitol views and the other half have stadium views. THE POOL!! This is our favorite thing about the hotel: a competition-size pool with an enormous pool deck right in the middle of DC. It's open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and we definitely make the most of it, with a series of really fun outdoor parties that bring in a terrific mix of people from the DC community to hang out with our guests. Every Sunday, Spike Mendelsohn (of Top Chef fame) grills burgers, and lots of other celebrity cooks and bands pop by too. THE ROOMS Our guest rooms are really big and easy, inspired by America's mid-century obsession with all things colonial, but with a bright, cheerful twist. And of course they have all the necessities of modern life on the road: free wireless internet access, 27-inch TV's, digital safes, large working areas, ridiculously comfortable mattresses, big closets, and nice clean bathrooms with quarry granite vanities. THE FOOD & DRINKS Our main restaurant, Lapidus - named after architect Morris Lapidus - is all about feeling like you're in your own (stylish!) dining room, with a casual, low-key vibe and food that's a fresh, farm-driven take on home cooking. Some of our favorites: Old Bay Crab and Artichoke Dip; Corn and Zucchini Beignets; Blanched Asparagus with Arugula, Chopped Egg and Lemon Aioli; Southern Pan-fried Chicken with Honey Pecan Butter; and the nightly Meat and 2, which pairs homey dishes like braised pork shanks or lemon-thyme roasted chicken with scrumptious homemade sides. At breakfast, we have a big buffet on the counter with all the classics: eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage, French toast, yogurt, cold cereal, fresh fruit, yogurt, oatmeal... No fancy newfangled stuff in the morning, please!
